A Fayetteville woman who police said ran over a man Saturday was jealous over another woman, according to the arrest report.

John Chamberlain, 31, was listed in good condition Sunday at Washington Regional Medical Center, officials said.

Jessica Mars, 29, was arrested after police said she used her Jeep to run over Chamberlin and to strike a woman standing with him.

That victim, Minda Totten, 34, of Farmington suffered minor injuries, according to a Washington County sheriff’s report.

The disturbance happened about 3 p.m. Saturday outside Chamberlin’s home at 23994 Highway 303 North in Washington County. A 911 caller who reported the assault said Chamberlain’s legs were initially pinned under the car.

Mars was angry over a romantic encounter between Chamberlin and Totten and sped over to the home, the report states.

Mars told police she slammed on her brakes as she pulled into the driveway and slid into Chamberlin and Totten.

Witnesses said she accelerated toward the pair and hit them.

Mars is in the Washington County Jail facing a number of charges, including aggravated assault, first-degree domestic battering and three counts of endangering the welfare of minors. Three children were nearby in the yard when the assaulted occurred, authorities said.

Mars is set to appear in Washington County Circuit Court on Oct. 15. Her bond is $5,000.
