Man Run Over By Jealous Woman Is Out Of Hospital, Officials Say
A Washington County man who police say was run over by a jealous woman was released from the hospital Monday.
John Chamberlain, 31, was run over Saturday by a Jeep driven by Jessica Mars, 29, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Mars was angry over a romantic encounter between Chamberlain and Minda Totten, a woman who suffered minor injuries in the collision, according to a sheriff’s office report.
Chamberlain was listed in good condition Sunday at Washington Regional Medical Center. By Monday night, he had been released, according to a nursing supervisor at the hospital.
Because of medical privacy laws, the supervisor could not specify whether Chamberlain had been transferred or outright released of his own accord.
Mars was arrested at the scene and released on $5,000 bond Sunday afternoon. She faces charges of felony domestic battery, third degree battery, criminal mischief, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Mars is set to appear in Washington County Circuit Court on Oct. 15.
The disturbance happened about 3 p.m. Saturday outside Chamberlain’s home at 23994 Highway 303 North in Washington County. A 911 caller who reported the assault said Chamberlain’s legs were initially pinned under the car.
Mars told police she slammed on her brakes as she pulled into the driveway and slid into Chamberlin and Totten.
Witnesses said she accelerated toward the pair and hit them.
Three children were nearby in the yard when the assaulted occurred, authorities said.
