There were plenty of tails wagging and noses being licked at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter as pets went home with new families as part of a special promotion.

The shelter on Saturday hosted the “Fall” Into Love Adoption Extravaganza.

The promotion lowered adoption costs on all pets to only $10.

The fee covers spay/neuter surgery, microchiping, and rabies and booster vaccinations.

Shelter employees say events like today’s are how most animals get adopted.

“We have so many animals at the shelter, and we have a limited number of spaces for animals, so the more adoptions we get, the more animals we can take in to get our assistance and the fewer animals we have to euthanize,” said Tony Rankin, shelter program manager.

The shelter reached its goal of having more than 50 animals adopted.

If you missed out, you’ll get another chance because the shelter has these kinds of events several times a year.
