State Fair in Full Swing in Fort Smith
The Arkansas-Oklahoma State Fair is in full swing, after kicking off Friday night at Kay Rodgers Park in Fort Smith.
There were livestock showings Saturday in the Hugh Harding Arena. Besides the carnival rides, there’s an expo center with creative arts and educational exhibits.
“You know it’s a pretty darn good fair with a lot of tradition,” said John Hanschen, co-owner of the Thomas Carnival. “The trees are nice. The weather is nice. The people are hospitable. We’re had a lot of fun here. I’ve spent over 30 years of my career, two weeks every year coming here. I could probably register to vote if I wanted.”
Closing out the night is a performance by Jake Owen at the Harper Stadium.
