Police: Springdale Man Attacked, Spit Blood On Officers
A man fought with security and police after being kicked out of the Springdale Civic Center on Saturday, police said.
Ronnie Martinez, 28, was arrested on suspicion of felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor assault, resisting arrest and public intoxication. He was also arrested in connection with a previous failure to appear charge, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office website.
Martinez, of Springdale, remained in the Washington County Detention Center on Monday night on $330,000 bond.
Martinez was detained by security at the Springdale Civic Center for fighting with staff, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.
Police tried to place Martinez in a squad car, when he struck an officer with his knee, the report states. Martinez’s mouth was bleeding from the struggle to put him in the police car. Martinez then spit blood on two officers in the car, the report states.
Police shocked Martinez with a Taser after he kicked an officer in the head several times, police said.
Martinez was placed in a restraint chair in Springdale City Jail, but bit an officer while being buckled in, police said. Martinez was eventually secured in the chair before later being transferred to the Washington County Detention Center.
