One Injured In Motorcycle Wreck On I-540 In Springdale
One man was injured in a motorcycle wreck Tuesday on Interstate 540 in the southbound lane just north of Exit 72 in Springdale.
The driver, Robert Wayne Hubbard of Georgia, was taken by emergency vehicle to a local hospital apparently with a broken or injured leg, said a friend of his at the scene. The friend, who did not provide his name, did not know which hospital Hubbard was taken to.
The wrecked motorcycle was in the grass against a cable barrier.
Hubbard and other friends with Harleys for Hope are on motorcycles touring cities where Southeastern Conference universities are located to raise money and promote breast cancer awareness, said Hubbard’s friend.
The group was not in town for the upcoming Bikes, Blues & BBQ rally, the friend said.
According to the Blue Nights GA V website, the Harleys for Hope riders were scheduled to ride more than 4,000 miles to all 14 SEC conference schools in seven days. The six riders, including Hubbard, left on Saturday, Sept. 22 and are scheduled to return to the Chattahoochee Harley Davidson dealership in Columbus, Ga., on Saturday, Sept. 29.
Hubbard’s friend said he did not see the accident because Hubbard was riding at the back of the line of motorcycles.
