U of A Construction Worker Hospitalized After Site Collapse
A construction worker at the University of Arkansas was hospitalized after a concrete wall fell on him Thursday morning, said Lt. Gary Crain with the University of Arkansas Police Department.
Two men were working in an excavated trench area near Dickson Street and McIlroy Avenue in Fayetteville. A concrete wall that holds back the dirt collapsed and struck the workers.
One man was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center with non-serious injuries. The other worker was checked out at the scene and refused to be hospitalized, Crain said.
Crain said the hospitalized man was conscious during the entire incident. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration is investigating the workplace accident.
