The political action committee Conservative Arkansas has affirmed its endorsement of Mark Moore, an independent, over Republican Sue Scott in the race for the open House District 95 seat in northern Benton County.

“Conservative Arkansas has never reconsidered support for independent candidate Mark Moore, and in fact has only grown more confident in the decision to endorse him,” the PAC said in a news release Sunday night.

Confusion apparently ensued after Albert Langley, a member of the Republican Men of Benton County and a campaign supporter of Scott’s, left the impression at the Republican Men’s monthly luncheon Friday that Conservative Arkansas regrets or is reconsidering its endorsement of Moore, the news release states.

Moore received Conservative Arkansas’ endorsement in August after answering the PAC’s candidate questionnaire. Scott twice has neglected to answer the questionnaire, the group’s officials said.

A change in the Conservative Arkansas endorsement is “not open for consideration,” the news release states.

The election is Nov. 6. No Democrat is in the District 95 race.

Conservative Arkansas, led by Executive Director Patsy Wootton of Springdale (pictured in red clothing), is active in supporting candidates it endorses, most of whom are Republicans.

The PAC has been credited this year with helping political newcomer Bart Hester of Cave Springs defeat state Rep. Tim Summers, R-Bentonville, in the May 22 Republican primary election in newly created state Senate District 1, and with helping state Rep. Jon Woods, R-Springdale, defeat state Sen. Bill Pritchard, R-Elkins, in the GOP primary for the state Senate District 7 seat.

Hester does not face a Democratic opponent in November, while Woods faces Democrat Diana Gonzales Worthen.
