A young man was airlifted to the hospital after a single-vehicle accident caused his truck to catch fire in Muldrow.
Boaz Millar, 20, of Muldrow, was admitted to St. John's Hospital in Tulsa in stable condition with internal and external injuries, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Millar was northbound on Hwy 101 northwest of Muldrow when he veered off the road to the left and struck a tree, according to the report. His 2003 Dodge pickup continued north in the ditch until it hit another tree and caught fire.
That's when someone driving by stopped to pull Millar out of his burning truck, according to Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart.
"Somebody pulled him out or he wouldn't have made it," Jackie Sowenson, who lives up the road from where the accident happened, explained.
"When we arrived on scene there was a truck in the west ditch on fire," Trooper Steven Crooks with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. "They'd already helped out the driver and he was over in the field away from the vehicle."
The report states Millar was "sleepy" and the cause of the collision was "inattention."
Several agencies helped to clear the accident.
