The Drug Enforcement Administration and local drug task force members raided a Fayetteville couple’s home Thursday and found a marijuana-growing operation, police say.

Gary and Marsha Cafourek were arrested on suspicion of marijuana manufacturing, possession of marijuana with purpose to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearm, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.

They remained in the Washington County Detention Center on Friday awaiting a bond hearing.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant at the couple’s North Garland Avenue home and found live marijuana plants in the backyard—one as high as 12 feet, police said. Authorities also discovered about 50 marijuana limbs hanging and drying in the garage, the report states.

Various drug paraphernalia and a loaded rifle were found inside the couple’s home, according to the report.

The bust was a joint effort by the DEA, the Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force and the Fayetteville police department.
