Motorcyclist Dies After Crashing into Brick Mailbox

A motorcyclist was killed after hitting a brick enclosed mailbox on south Albert Pike in Fort Smith Sunday evening.

Terry Nichols, 58, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident in an area near south Albert Pike and south S Street just before 9 p.m.

It appears Nichols’ Harley Davidson left the roadway and hit the mailbox, said Cpl. Steven Dooly. Police believe he may have underestimated a curve in the road.

Nichols’ body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for autopsy, according to police.
