Over the past few years the Fayetteville vs. Bentonville Girls’ Volleyball match-up has grown into one of the biggest rivalries across the state of Arkansas.

"We’ve had some great battles over the years." Said Fayetteville Head Coach Michele Phelan.  "It’s a fun game that the kids look forward to playing.  It’s a good rivalry."

For the past two years Bentonville and Fayetteville have met in the 7A State finals.  Bentonville has come away with the state title both times.

"In the volleyball world they are a great team to play." Said Bentonville Head Coach Michelle Smith. "We love playing them and each year it gets more and more intense."

The teams faced off  last Tuesday at Fayetteville High School in a regular season match-up.  It was an intense battle from the start, but in the end Fayetteville won the match in three straight sets.  With the win the Bulldogs senior class walk away unbeaten at home over their entire careers.

"It’s really big for us." Said Senior Setter Aubrey Edie.  "Struggling through two state championship losses in the past two years, we just want to show what we can do, and prove we are a dominant senior class."

The teams begin their quest for a state title beginning October 30th at Heritage High School.
