A 20-year-old Springdale man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
Springdale Police arrested Fredi Willfredo Santos on a rape charge. The incident happened on Sunday and was consensual, according to police.
The teen had snuck out of her home to meet Santos, according to a police report. The girl’s mother found text messages sexual in nature on an iPod she’d recently given her daughter for her birthday and notified police, the report states.
The girl told investigators she met Santos through Facebook and used the new iPod to communicate with him, the police report states.
Santos admitted to police that he had sex with the girl, but said that her Facebook page claimed she was 25, according to the report. Santos told police the girl claimed to be 14, and then 16 before they had sex. He admitted he did not know her real age, police said.
Santos was booked into the Washington County Detention Center.
