A firefighter with the Fort Smith Fire Department was injured early Friday morning while responding to a house fire in Fort Smith.
The fire sparked around 2:30 a.m. Friday on the 500 block of South 14th Street, according to dispatchers with the Fort Smith Police Department
According to firefighters at the scene one firefighter was taken to the hospital after he injured his knee while battling the fire. Officials with the Fort Smith Fire Department say that firefighter has been released from the hospital and was sent home. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Fort Smith Firefighters also tell 5NEWS the home was vacant with no one living inside at the time.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
