A discussion about whether the Razorbacks should play all their home football games on the campus in Fayetteville or continue to schedule some in Little Rock seems inevitable on days when the Hogs play in the capital city.
Arkansas played SEC West rival Ole Miss in Little Rock Saturday (Oct. 27), losing 30-27 on a field goal as the clock ran out to end the game. The Hogs lost earlier this year in Little Rock to Louisiana-Monroe.
Among those who see value in continuing to play some games in Little Rock is Tom Cotton, a 35-year-old Dardanelle Republican vying for the the 4th Congressional District seat against Democrat Gene Jeffress of Louann. Also in the race are Libertarian Bobby Tullis of Mineral Springs and Joshua Drake, a Green Party candidate from Hot Springs. The election is Nov. 6.
Cotton was in Springdale Saturday speaking at a fish fry hosted by the political action committee Conservative Arkansas. Springdale isn’t in the 4th District, but Cotton was in town to headline the Conservative Arkansas event.
5NEWS caught up with Cotton before his address and spoke with him about several issues, including whether the Razorbacks should continue playing in Little Rock.
Cotton is in favor of leaving some football games down there.
“I think it’s good to have a couple in Little Rock, but that’s really a decision for the trustees and the chancellor and the president to make, but it’s nice to have a couple of games in Little Rock that the rest of the state can get to more easily,” he said.
