Waldron Under Precautionary Boil Order

Waldron was placed under a 72-hour boil order Saturday afternoon.

John David Brown, the weekend operator at the Waldron Water Treatment Plant, said a stress fracture was discovered in a 6-inch main Thursday. When a work crew arrived Saturday to repair the damage, the fissure broke.

The crew repaired the damage but the 72-hour boil was issued as a precautionary measure. Brown said the boil order affected approximately 4,500 people.

“Better to be safe than sorry,” Brown said.
