The Prairie Grove Lady Tigers are having one of their best seasons ever.  Last week they became the first volleyball team in school history to win a district title, an accomplishment they are all extremely proud of.

“It feels really good we’ve never been first in district before.” Said Senior Outside Hitter Kaleigh Witherspoon.  “It feels really good to make a legend in Prairie Grove and have that stay here.”

“It’s going to be awesome to have our own banner.” Said Senior Setter Erin Galloway.  “We are really excited and it’s really awesome.”

Heading into the state tournament the Lady Tigers will be a number one seed.  The team credits that feat not only to their physical abilities but to their chemistry.

“We are all really close this year.” Said Senior Outside Hitter Megan Gerwig.  “We are one big family. I think that’s what makes us accomplish everything we have so far.”

“We mesh really well, we have really good chemistry and we work really well together.” Added Senior Setter Addison Evans.

All season long the team has lived by one simple motto.

“They lived by the phrase Carpe de Diem.” Said Head Coach Hannah McDonald.  “They want to seize the day and they want to make this senior year last.  They have pulled their team together, and they have worked together.”

“Carpe Diem means seize the day” Said Gerwig.  “We use that as taking one game at a time and really push to win that game.  We want to seize every game.”

The girls continue their quest to bring home a state title Tuesday night at The Harrison Parks and Recreation Center.
