Police Arrest Man Accused of Stealing AC Units from Charity
Fort Smith police arrested a man believed to be connected to a theft and damages that exceeded $30,000 at a local charity.
Michael David Key, 43, was arrested Sunday after investigators developed him as a suspect through scrap metal records.
Several air conditioning units were stolen from the Community Services Clearinghouse on Wheeler Avenue. Police began investigating the incident on Oct. 17.
On the day of the theft officers found Key with various air unit components at USA Metal in Van Buren. An investigator was able to determine the units in Key’s possession were the ones that had been recently installed at the Clearinghouse.
Key is being held on three counts of felony theft by receiving which carries a $15,000 bond at the Crawford County jail. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant out of LeFlore county, police said.
