Harps Fire

Harps Food Store in Lincoln was evacuated after a small fire started around 6:30 p.m. Sunday night.

Lincoln police said the fire is believed to have started in a smoking area used by store employees outside the store. Officer Gregory Gunn said about a half-dozen employees and customers were evacuated safely.

Police and fire officials said the fire started on an outside windowsill, spread to the window frame and then crawled up the building. The fire was noticed when the store began to fill with smoke.

Polie and fire officials with Lincoln said the damage was minimal, estimated to be roughly under $5,000. Firemen tore out part of the exterior wall to make sure the fire was completely extinguished.

Fire departments from Lincoln, Prairie Grove and Farmington responded.
