Elementary Locked Down After Man Caught Watching Porn Nearby
A Van Buren man was arrested on a slew of charges Wednesday morning after police say he was caught watching pornography on a laptop near a local elementary school.
Arkansas State Police and Crawford County deputies caught Brent Diamond, 23, behind the Super 8 Motel, south of Interstate 40, around 7:40 a.m., Detective Jonathan Wear said.
Diamond was sitting at a picnic table near the McDonald’s and Lake Lou Emma near Highway 59 and Fayetteville Road with his laptop open, when dispatch received a call saying the man was watching porn, Det. Wear said.
Diamond was taken to the Crawford County Detention Center on charges of burglary, criminal impersonation, trespassing, fleeing, obstruction of governmental operations and resisting arrest, according to a jail deputy.
Rena Elementary was locked down for nearly 30 minutes while officers made the arrest.
Det. Wear said the school lockdown was temporary and was released at 7:45 a.m. All students are fine and classes have resumed.
