One man was hospitalized and another was arrested after a drunk-driving crash threw a man from a motorcycle in Springdale on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Emergency responders tended to a motorcyclist, who was lying the street after colliding with a car, according to the Springdale Police Department. He was later hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, said Capt. Randy Riley with the Springdale Fire Department.

The man was moving while being loaded into a Springdale Emergency Medical Services ambulance. The motorcyclist’s name is unknown at this time.

Police and fire crews responded to the crash at Don Tyson Parkway and Thompson Street shortly after 2 p.m.

Philip Caro, the driver of the pickup truck that hit the motorcycle, was placed in a squad car and taken from the scene in handcuffs. Police searched the Caro and his truck. A Four Loko alcoholic drink in a paper sack lay next to his vehicle, although it is unclear if it belonged to the man.

Caro, 25, of Decatur, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He has not yet been booked into jail.

The truck had significant damage to its front end. A third car involved in the accident did not appear to have significant damage.
