Van Buren Gas Leak Shut Off; Crews Repairing Line

Workers have a gas leak in Van Buren contained and are working to restore service to three homes, according to Arkansas Oklahoma Natural Gas

The leak was shut off at 6:48 p.m., allowing crews to begin repairing the line break. Workers will remain on the job until service is restored to the homes.

The gas leak shut down Rena Road from North Hills Drive to Lover’s Lane.

Construction workers hit a line causing the leak, an Arkansas Oklahoma Natural Gas spokesperson said.

No homes were evacuated, and no one was in danger, the spokesperson said.

The smell of gas is very strong in the area, according to neighbors. Some residents chose to leave their homes on their own.
