Associates here at Walmart are getting ready for shopping madness which begins Thanksgiving Day, but it's been a year of preparation.
This year, Black Friday starts on Thursday, two hours earlier than last year.
The holiday shopping madness kicks off at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.
"We`re hearing customers like to get done with Thanksgiving dinner then get out and start their black Friday shopping , they much rather do that then get up early but there are customers that do like to get up and early and we`ll have that option as well,” said Walmart Spokesman, Kory Lundberg.
And customers we spoke to say they like the idea of getting a head start on holiday shopping.
”The more time people get the better deals, the more they`ll be out shopping,” said Angie McGuire.
“A lot of people, it`s hard especially if you do have children and a lot of people have family in town so it`s nice to have those extra hours if you need to get out and have family to take care of the kids and take advantage to watch the kids, so I think it`s a great thing,” said Kelly Wyatt.
This year, deals will be split up into three waives.
8 p.m.: Toys, video games, gaming systems, home and apparel.
10 p.m.: Electronics, Nook e-readers, cameras and HDTVs.
And starting at 5 a.m Friday, you can get bargains on jewelry and tires.
"So the really exciting thing about the 19 p.m. event is that for the first time ever we've got products that we are guaranteeing to be in stock. So if you're a customer and want an iPad 2, you want a 32 inch screen TV, or you want a Blu-ray DVD player and you're in line between 20 p.m. and 11 p.m. you're guaranteed to have the product under your Christmas tree," said Lundberg.
Meanwhile, Walmart workers say they plan to stage a walkout on black Friday. It builds on an October strike that started at a Walmart in Los Angeles. On black Friday, the organizations say they expect 1,000 protests, both at stores and online.
“We think there maybe a few handful of associates that some of the stores that unions have targeted in the past but by and large we don`t think it`s going to have much of an impact at all.”
And if you know what you want but not sure where to find it in the store, Walmart`s website has a map of each store to help you find what you`re looking for.
Walmart unveiled its holiday mobile app Monday November 19th, where customers can find special black Friday deals.
