Fayetteville police caught up Wednesday to a former Razorbacks football player years after they say he broke into a pickup truck.

Mathew Hall, 22, was arrested on suspicion of breaking and entering and theft of property. He was released Wednesday from the Washington County Detention Center on $2,500 bond.

Hall joined the University of Arkansas football team in 2008 as an offensive lineman. He transferred to Mississippi in 2010, but lives in Dardanelle.

Police said Hall broke into a pickup truck on North Queen Annes Lace Drive in August 2008 and stole a pair of Apple iPod earphones and an auxiliary cable. The fraternity brother of the owner of the truck confronted Hall during the incident, and Hall got out of the truck and left in a Chevrolet Avalanche truck, according to an arrest warrant affidavit from the Washington County Circuit Court.

The fraternity brother gave the truck’s license number to police, who traced it to Hall’s parents. Police did not make an arrest at the time.

Hall turned himself in to authorities this week, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office website.
