Andrew Pray, a former standout football player for Shiloh Christian, was killed in a cycling accident Wednesday in Emerson, Ga.

Pray, 31, was riding a bicycle on Highway 41 when he was struck by a charter bus at approximately 12:30 p.m, Bartow County Fire Battalion Chief Sandy Turner told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Pray was pronounced dead at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, said Turner.

Pray was a fullback and linebacker for the Saints before graduating in 2000. Shiloh Christian reached three consecutive state championship games and won Class 2A titles in 1998 and 1999.

“It’s very heart-breaking news,” said Shiloh Christian coach Josh Floyd, who played with Pray with the Saints. “He was one of the greatest guys you’d ever meet. He was a really good, smart football player. He was as good a leader as anyone we’ve ever had here.”

Floyd said Pray would regularly text him encouragement before Shiloh Christian games. Pray was a worship leader at West Ridge Church in Dallas, Ga., and is survived by his wife, Courtney, and three children.
