Thanksgiving For More Than Just Family This Year

Thanksgiving week has to be the best football weekend of the year.

Who can’t love three games on gobbler’s day and then playoff high school playoffs the following day?

Thanksgiving starts off with the Texans-Lions game that no one wanted to end. Then the Cowboys-Redskins game was at least entertaining. Cap it off with the beat down of the Jets. Everyone but the lone national sports station loves when Rex Ryan loses.

But today and tomorrow is what we really enjoy.

Old rivals Bentonville and Southside will meet once again with a state championship berth on the line. The regular season felt incomplete without Jeff Williams and Barry Lunney squaring off. Then you add the fact that Greenwood is hosting the three time 6A state champion El Dorado. That makes for a great night of games. And that’s just two of them!

Charleston is hosting the No. 1 team in 3A in Glen Rose.

Booneville is hosting Ozark. Who doesn’t love round two of a major rivalry?

Vian broke the Oklahoma scoring record for a season last week. Their reward? The Wolverines get to host Hennessey, the same team that has knocked them out of the postseason the past two years.

All that said and nothing was mentioned of LSU coming to Fayetteville for the season finale.

Oh, Bedlam is tomorrow? How could I forget that?

Thanksgiving is about spending time with your family. But getting together for these games isn’t a bad idea either.

So skip the Black Friday shopping, grab a hot chocolate and a game.
