Fort Smith police received a call about a robbery in the parking lot of the Bank of the Ozarks on Phoenix Avenue just after 9 p.m. Friday.
According to police on the scene, the suspect is male and was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
Police said the suspect was hiding in the bushes when a bank employee carrying a deposit bag entered the parking lot.
The suspect and the bank employee scuffled, and the suspect escaped on foot with an unknown amount of money.
A K-9 unit was called to search the area, and police are still investigating the situation.
