After a lackluster performance in the Las Vegas Invitational last weekend Arkansas hung close with #6 Syracuse to the end Friday night. The Hogs fell 91-82 in a game that was close the entire second half.

BJ Young led Arkansas with 25 points.

Throughout the game Arkansas had trouble guarding James Southerland. He scored a career-high 35 points and the Hogs never had an answer for him.

The Orange led by as many as 15 points in the first half, but Arkansas remained tough in the second half despite shooting only 38 percent from the field to Syracuse's 48.

Marshawn Powell added 19 points for Arkansas, who wanted to stress playing a fast, up-tempo game. They did that well, but Syracuse always had an answer for every Arkansas run.

The Hogs fall to 3-3 on the season and will host Oklahoma on Tuesday night at Bud Walton Arena.
