Monday night was the official opening of the Holiday Express at Creekmore Park in Fort Smith.
Festivities kicked off around 5:15 p.m. with a lighting ceremony, free popcorn and hot chocolate.
It's the only time that the steam engine offers rides. The diesel engine will continue to run Monday-Saturday from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. through Dec. 22, according to the Parks and Recreation Department.
