Washington County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men this week they say failed to register as sex offenders.

Guy Fredrick Hays, 47, and Nathan Robert Johnson, 22, were arrested and each remains in the Washington County Detention Center on $3,500 bond.

Hays, of Fayetteville, was convicted in 2000 of first degree sexual abuse. He has moved around Arkansas several times in the past year. When he moved from Sevier County to Fayetteville in October, he never contacted the police department to register, according to an arrest warrant affidavit from the Washington County Circuit Court.

A warrant was issued for Johnson’s arrest in March on failure to register as a sex offender. In addition to his sex offender status, Johnson was also wanted in Scott last year on suspicion of stealing jewelry and firearms from a Faulkner County home last December.

Johnson, of Brinkley, was booked into Washington County jail Wednesday night. Hays was booked Thursday night
