We have been enjoying temperatures more reminiscent of early Spring rather than late Fall for the past few days, but a cold blast will soon put much of the nation back into the deep freeze.

A strong cold front will move through late Sunday night and early Monday morning bring temperatures well below average for early December. cold gfs

There will be some showers and possibly a few rumbles of thunder with the cold front late Sunday afternoon and evening. rain gfs

The heaviest of the rain will fall well east of the area on Sunday. We are expecting less than an inch of rain for most of the area Sunday as the front passes through the area. qpf

The rain will wrap up very early Monday morning. The million dollar question right now is who, if anyone will see snow. It appears there is a very slim chance we see a few snow flurries on the back side of this system. Most of the moisture will be gone by the time the cold air arrives early Monday morning. It’s not out the question to see a few snow flurries with this cold system but don’t expect any accumulating snow.
