All 5NEWS Team: Small School Defense

The first ALL-5NEWS High School Football Team is being reveal with four different categories; 7A/6A/5A Offense, 7A/6A/5A Defense, 4A/3A/2A Offense, 4A/3A/2A Defense.

Here is the All-5NEWS 4A/3A/2A and Oklahoma Defensive Team:

Player of the Year: Jon Halbert, Prairie Grove – His 10 interceptions led the Tigers defense to 12 wins with four of those coming in the second half against Pea Ridge. Was also a finalist for the State Farm 4A defensive player of the year.

Defensive Line: Stephen Stearman, Mountainburg – Stearman’s size made running on the Dragons tough and helped guide them back to the playoffs.

Defensive Line: Dalton Gray, Booneville – The Bearcats were the surprise team coming out of the 4A-4 and upset highly ranked Pottsville thanks to a stout defensive front.

Defensive Line: Bryan Baccam, Ozark – Baaccum anchored a defense that helped the Hillbillies reach the 4A championship game and sweep a pair of games from rival Booneville.

Defensive Line: Brennan Warren, Farmington – The Cardinals offense got most of the headlines but Warren led a defense that gave opposing teams fits.

Linebacker: Rowdy Simon, Vian – The Wolverines dominated opponents all season long, allowing just 22 points during the regular season and reached the state semifinals.

Linebacker: Tyler Casebolt, Elkins – The Elks defense was not an easy out against a tough 3A-1 schedule.

Linebacker: Ryan Spencer, Paris – The Eagles defense was one of the best in 3A over the past two years. Five shutouts this season and a unit that 103 points in the regular season.

Linebacker: Aaron Ramey, Hackett – Ramey helped the Hornets win a conference championship for the first time for coach Eddie Ray.

Defensive Back: Darian Froud, Greenland – The Pirates did things they have never done before in the 2012 season and Froud is a huge reason why. Froud made huge plays on both side of the football.

Defensive Back: Hayden Newhart, Charleston – The sophomore picked off a team high seven passes and helped an extremely young secondary reach the quarterfinals.
