Springdale Man Faces Third Domestic Battery Charge of 2012
A Springdale man faces two felony charges after police said he slapped, hit and choked his 17-year-old girlfriend Sunday morning.
Maxwell Montgomery, 20, was booked into the Washington County Detention Center and has a bond set at $7,500, according to the Sheriff’s Department website. He has a Jan. 30 court date and faces felony charges of third-degree domestic battery and aggravated assault in addition to misdemeanor charges of false imprisonment and interfering with emergency communications, the website said
A preliminary police report said it is the third time Montgomery had been arrested on suspicion of domestic battery in 2012 with previous arrests in January and July. The police report did not specify whom Montgomery allegedly assaulted in his previous arrests.
Springdale police responded to a 911 call from Montgomery’s girlfriend at approximately 3:05 a.m. on Alicia Street, the report said. Samantha Ligi told officers that Montgomery had “back handed” her in the mouth when she tried to wake him up earlier in the morning, the report said.
After he woke up, Montgomery began to fight with Ligi and slapped her in the face, the report said. The report said Montgomery followed Ligi into the bathroom and choked her and bit her lip before taking her cell phone and preventing her from leaving the couple’s bedroom.
The report said Ligi was not injured.
