Lacy DeLeon babysat 7-year old Sara Reagan Christians, who died two days after a Springdale car crash, remembers her life.

DeLeon is also Reagan’s next-door neighbor and said Reagan played with her two daughters, Mackenzie and Mya.

“I lost it,” Deleon said. “I didn’t know how to tell my children at first.”

Reagan died Jan. 1 at the Little Rock Children’s Hospital after a one-vehicle accident Sunday at Randall Wobbe Lane and Old Wire Road.

The girl was “fighting for her life” early Tuesday after her condition worsened, a family member said.

At Reagan’s door step at her Springdale home, a friend left her a note and princess book.

DeLeon said Reagan’s sudden death has been tough on the family.

“She is just a light in everybody’s eye,” DeLeon said. “Anybody that got to meet Reagan was very touched.”

Sunday’s accident left Reagan with a head injury and injuries to her liver and spleen, according to a family member.

Police said her mother, Claire Smith, drifted off the roadway. There was a dog in the car, which was taken to a nearby shelter.

DeLeon went to the accident scene and found a piece of the car.

“It is a little dirty but we are going to leave it just like that,” DeLeon said. “We’re going to do something special with this in memory of her.”

DeLeon is heartbroken and remembers Reagan’s love for Barbie’s and her dream to be a pop star.

She said Reagan loved to dance.

“I would get her out there, roll her around, and dance her around, things like that. That’s what she loved,” DeLeon said. “She was very outgoing.”

DeLeon said Reagan is now in a better place.

“God is with her and we know that she is walking around, stomping her feet,” DeLeon said.

Reagan was a second grader at George Gene Elementary.

Reagan’s mother, Claire, is at the Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. Her condition has been upgraded from fair to good.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th St. in Rogers. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Silent Grove Cemetery, north of Springdale.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Reagan Christians Care Account at any Iberiabank.
