Berryville Man Arrested After Girlfriend Shot To Death
Police arrested a Berryville man after his former girlfriend was found shot to death in her Eureka Springs home, according to Carroll County Sheriff Robert Grudek.
Police responded to the home of Laura Aceves, 21, on Monday at about 12:40 p.m. after a neighbor found her lying in a pool of blood. Aceves was rushed to Mercy Hospital in Rogers, where she was pronounced dead, Grudek said.
Aceves sustained a .22-caliber gunshot wound to her head. The bullet was removed from her head Wednesday.
Authorities then went to the home of the woman’s former boyfriend, Victor Acuna-Sanchez, 18, because of a protection order Aceves had against Acuna-Sanchez. Their relationship has a history of domestic violence, Grudek said.
Acuna-Sanchez was found hiding in his shower, with a .22-caliber handgun on the floor. He was arrested on suspicion of criminal mischief. Authorities are waiting for lab results from the gun before they potentially charge Acuna-Sanchez with murder, Grudek said.
The Sheriff’s Office will likely see lab results within the next day or two, Grudek said.
