Residents of Sebastian and Crawford Counties who meet certain income guidelines can receive assistance with their heating bills Monday.
Eligibility for winter utility assistance is determined by the amount of income a family receives, according to Mark Whitmer, Executive Director of Crawford-Sebastian Community Development Council, Inc.
Residents of both counties can apply for the assistance.
To be eligible, the following income guidelines apply:

1 person $ 1,481.00
2 persons $ 1,937.00
3 persons $ 2,393.00
4 persons $ 2,849.00
5 persons $ 3,305.00
6 persons $ 3,760.00
7 persons $ 3,846.00
8 persons $ 3,931.00
For each additional family member above 8 persons, add $85.50.
These income amounts are slightly higher than last year, which allows more families to receive benefits, according to the development council.
Applicants must bring a current utility heating bill, proof of monthly income for all household members 18-years-old and over, Social Security numbers for all household members and date of birth on all household members.
Those wishing to apply for assistance are encouraged to go to the Crawford-Sebastian Community Development Council building located on 4831 Armour in Fort Smith beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 7.
