A Fayetteville man faces a charge of first-degree terroristic threatening after police said he made threats on his Facebook account.
John Sangster, 33, was arrested at approximately 11 a.m. Thursday and booked into the Washington County Detention Center, according to the Sheriff’s Department website. He has a bond amount of $5,000 and has a Feb. 1 court date.
A preliminary police report said an Facebook friend of Sangter’s called police after he said Sangster made comments on the social website. The report said police officers were able to read Sangster’s posts because, at the time, his page was public.
The report said among the things Sangster posted were: “If I start north then walk south I can rob/kill at least four dealers and move on before I get caught/death by cops”; and “Going [expletive] rouge right now, love you all hate me later, [expletive] CNN they’ll get it wrong see ya on the news … if they take me alive”; and “I want dead bodies now!!”
The report said police were able to make contact with Sangster, who admitted making the posts but said they were just rants. The report said the police had several conversations with Sangster before meeting him at the Oak Plaza parking lot and placing him under arrest.
