A traffic stop led to two people being arrested on drug charges Thursday.

Springdale police said they stopped a car for careless driving early in the afternoon after the driver had left Motel 8 on South Thompson Street. Police said the driver, identified as 30-year-old Ulices Quintero of Springdale, consented to a search of his car, and police found nearly two ounces of methamphetamine, a handgun, .38-caliber bullets and more than $6,000 in cash.

The police said they executed a search warrant on Quintero’s apartment and found another handgun, a scale, two drug pipes and more methamphetamine. The police said they had narcotics officers execute a warrant search on a room at the Motel 8 and found a woman, identified as 30-year-old Melinda Labeff of Springdale, with drug paraphernalia, a small amount of marijuana, Ecstasy and more than two ounces of methamphetamine.

Quintero faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. Labeff faces three charges of drug possession and one for possessing drug paraphernalia.

Quintero and Labeff were booked into the Washington County Detention Center and Quintero has a Feb. 6 court date and Labeff has one Jan. 25, according to the Sheriff’s Department website.
