Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones promised he was going to make some changes this off season. Tuesday night was his first big move. Rob Ryan has been fired as the defensive coordinator one year before his three-year contract is up.

The Cowboys defense was 31st in the league before Ryan got there. That is second to last. The defense was 19th in the league this year.

The defense dealt with its fair share of injuries too. Ryan missed five starters because of injuries, including Pro Bowl nose tackle Jay Ratliff for the first four games of the season.

Ryan wasn’t the only Dallas coach fired on Tuesday. Running backs coach Skip Peete was also let go.
