Arkansas Sheriff Deputy Missing in River
WYNNE – Sheriff departments from Cross and St. Francis counties are searching the St. Francis River for a missing sheriff deputy.
Cross County Sheriff J.R. Smith told WREG they received a call about someone falling into the St. Francis Bay around 10:30 Friday night. The missing officer has been identified as Auxiliary Deputy Nick Swink, who was off-duty when he fell in the water.
Swink was with the Wynne Police Department for two years before transferring to the Cross County Sheriff’s office.
There are various law enforcement agencies from around the area assisting with the search including Arkansas Game and Fish and Cross County Dive Team.
“We will continue to search for Officer Swink until we locate him,” Smith said.
