Bret Bielema has named Bentonville’s offensive coordinator Barry Lunney Jr. as the tight ends coach for the Razorbacks.

“In the world of college football there have been numerous examples of high school coaches joining a college coaching staff and making an immediate impact,” Coach Bielema said. “Barry has experienced success through his seven years as a college coach and at the highest levels in high school.”

Lunney Jr. was the Razorbacks quarterback from 1992-1995.  He started 40 games for the Hogs and certainly left his mark on the program.   He left Arkansas holding career records for passing yards, passing touchdowns, pass completions, pass attempts and total offensive plays.  In 1995 he led the Razorbacks to the SEC Championship game in the school’s fourth year as a member of the conference.

Lunney Jr. began his coaching career at the University of Arkansas as a graduate assistant.  He had spent three years at Tulsa before being named co-offensive coordinator at San Jose State.  He spent a year at San Jose State and then moved back to Arkansas to lead the Bentonville offense.
