Flu Death In Fayetteville

A Fayetteville man has died from the flu at Washington Regional Medical Center, a health official said Tuesday.

The elderly man died Friday at the medical center and is the first flu death in the region this flu season. Officials said he was in his late 70s.

Nine people in Arkansas have died from the flu this season, according to the state Health Department.

Health department officials said the deaths highlight the seriousness of the flu and the importance of getting a flu shot.
