A Springdale man was hospitalized following a car crash in which police found a stolen gun in his car.

Lawrence Jordan, 41, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of felony theft by receiving, driving while intoxicated, drug possession and other misdemeanors. He was released the same day from the Washington County Detention Center on $4,700 bond.

Emergency crews responded to a single-car wreck near the intersection of Truckers Drive and Arkansas Highway 112 in Fayetteville. When they arrived Jordan was bleeding from his nose and mouth, and smelled of intoxicants, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.

Jordan had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, the officer at the scene said. While helping Jordan out of the white Chevrolet passenger car, the officer noticed a loaded pistol tucked near the bottom of the driver’s seat, he said.

Jordan was unable to walk and urinated himself, while insisting he did not need medical attention, according to the preliminary report.

Police found marijuana in the vehicle, and found from the pistol’s serial number that it was stolen, the report states.

Jordan was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released the same day. He was then transported to jail.
