Walmart Employee Stole Thousands From Store, Police Say
A Fayetteville Walmart employee is behind bars after police say he stole thousands of dollars over the course of several months from the retail giant.
Kevin Hull, 39, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony theft of property. He remained Thursday in the Washington County Detention Center on $2,500 bond, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Following an internal investigation into Hull’s suspected thefts, Walmart Asset Protection contacted Fayetteville police earlier this week concerning numerous electronic items that had been stolen from the store over the past several months. Asset Protection told police they discovered that Hull had pawned several items that had been returned to the store, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.
Hull worked in the Claims Department of the Walmart store on Mall Avenue.
Hull told police during an interview that he stole several electronic items from the store over the last six months, pawning several of them and giving others to friends and family, the report states.
The estimated value of the stolen items totaled about $5,000, according to the preliminary report.
Hull told police he stole the items for financial gain and because it was easy, the report states.
