A Fayetteville man faces a felony charge of residential burglary and a handful of misdemeanors after his ex-girlfriend told police he forced her way into her apartment, pushed her down and stole her key chain.

Ryan Brazell, 33, was booked into the Washington County Detention Center on Saturday morning and has a bond amount of $5,000 for residential burglary and $2,000 for third-degree domestic battery, according to the Sheriff’s Department website. He posted bond Saturday afternoon and has a Feb. 27 court date for the felony burglary charge.

In a  preliminary police report Brazell’s ex-girlfriend, April Dorey, said Brazell showed up at her apartment and attempted to enter using a key she had given him. He was stopped by a security chain but broke the chain and forced himself in, the report said.

Dorey told officers Brazell pushed her down and she hit her head on a glass table, and officers said in the report that Dorey had “a significant bump” on her head and was complaining on a headache. Dorey said Brazell took her key chain, containing her car, work and residential keys, and left, the report said.

Officers said in the report that Brazell later sent a text message in which he said he threw the key chain into a creek behind Dorey’s apartment.

Brazell faces charges of residential burglary, third-degree domestic battery, first-degree criminal mischief and theft of property, according to the Sheriff’s Department website.
