An EF-1 tornado struck the Elkins area Tuesday (Jan. 29) afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service out of Tulsa went to survey the damage Wednesday. Several homes sustained damaged roofs, while the roof of an orthodontics clinic was ripped off.
Several barns and chickens houses were also destroyed. Washington County judge Marilyn Edwards estimates about 40 structures were damaged.
