The Arkansas Music Pavillion needs a permanent home, but at least so far, it hasn't found one.
The popular venue, owned and operated by the Walton Arts Center, will be at the Washington County Fairgrounds again for the 2013 season.
But when the current contract expired in 2013, AMP officials don't know where it will operate. The AMP is asking the Fayetteville Planning Commission for a one-year extension on its current lease, which would extend through the 2014 season.
"We want the flexibility to be there in 2014 if we don't find a permanent location," said Bethany Bobbitt, spokesperson for the Walton Arts Center.
The fairgrounds has worked out well for the AMP, but there are a number of reasons why it's not a good long-term solution for the music venue.
"In September, whenever the fair is, we do have to turn it over to them, so we're not able to really invest in the infrastructure and make it as profitable as it could be," Bobbitt said.
So where will AMP go? Bobbitt wouldn't say, but she did say what they are looking for.
"Parking, we want to make sure it's close to (Interstate) 540. We want to make sure there's multiple access points, both entrance and exit points," Bobbitt said. "We need infrastructure, things like power and water."
Rogers Mayor Greg Hines told 5NEWS that the Pinnacle Hills Promenade would be a great location for the AMP. Hines said he has spoken to Walton Arts Center officials about relocating the music venue to Rogers.
Pinnacle Hills fits all the criteria Bobbitt said the popular music venue is looking for.
