The number of alcohol permits issued in Benton County is on the rise.

The state Alcoholic Beverage Control administration released another week’s worth of alcohol permits to Benton County businesses Friday. The number of beer and small farm wine permits issued to businesses in the county has now reached 64, not counting the businesses added Friday, which will become public Monday, according to the ABC.

The Alcoholic Beverage Control board approved alcohol permits for 52 Benton County locations at its monthly meeting Jan. 16. Since then, though, the ABC did not wait until its next board meeting to release permits to additional county businesses.

The ABC issued five more Benton County alcohol permits over the next few days, with seven more county businesses added to the list the following week.

Benton County businesses have taken the lion’s share of alcohol permits since initial approval Jan. 16 as compared to other Arkansas counties. Since the January board meeting, Pulaski County has received eight permits, while Sebastian County netted five.

County locations wasted no time initially following the board meeting either. Of the 91 businesses receiving alcohol permits in the first few days following and including the board meeting Jan. 16, 58 were from Benton County.
