POLICE: Man Threatens Child with Sawed Off Shotgun

A 21-year-old man was arrested on a slew of charges after he allegedly threatened a small child with a sawed off shotgun during in an attempt to steal prescription painkillers from the child’s mother.

Ethan Jared Lovelace is being held at the Sebastian County Detention Center without bond.

Arkansas State Police asked for the Fort Smith Police Department’s assistance in locating Lovelace just before 10 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 31.)

Lovelace was found hiding behind a storage building at a residence in the 3700 block of Morris Drive, according to police.

Lovelace, a parolee, had been wanted since Wednesday, when he allegedly stole pain pills from a woman in Paris. Police say he threatened her child with a weapon.

Officers found several items of drug paraphernalia and prescription Roxicodone with Lovelace at the time of his arrest.

Lovelace is charged with Parole Violation, Refusal to Submit to Arrest, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with the Intent to Manufacture Methamphetamine, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
