Arkansas Picks Up 5-Star Running Back
Bret Bielema has only been in Fayetteville for two months, but already he’s landing a top rated running back. Alex Collins from Plantation, Fla committed to Arkansas on Monday night.
Collins is ranked as the third best running back in the country according to scout.com and is a 5-star prospect. He is the biggest running back recruit to commit to Arkansas since Darren McFadden in 2005.
Bielema recruited Collins at Wisconsin and continued to chase him when he took the Arkansas job. The Hogs weren’t even recruiting Collins until Bielema arrived in December.
Collins stands 5’11 207 pounds, with a size that is ready to make an immediate impact for the Hogs.
Bielema has been notorious for developing powerful running backs at Wisconsin in the last five years. Monte Ball won the Doak Walker Award this season, and PJ HiIl and James Hall are two other high profile names that have been on the Heisman watch list in the past.
The landing of Collins solidifies Bielema’s earlier statements that recruiting Florida will be a top priority.
